Central Minnesota Council on Aging is looking for volunteers to be trained as State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP) Counselors Read more...
Core Body of Knowledge – In order to become a Certified Health Insurance Counselor you need to complete a Core Body of Knowledge Training session. This is an 18 hour training that takes place once a year.
In this training you will learn all of the information you will need in order to effectively help individuals with health insurance questions. You do not need an insurance background in order to volunteer for the program.
Due to conflict of interest if you have an active insurance licensure you are unable to volunteer for the program. No minimum hours are required, needs are flexible throughout the year.
Update trainings will be held 3 times a year to inform Volunteers of updated information they should be aware of. These will be 4 (or more) hours of training with lunch provided. Trainings are held at 2 different locations; St. Cloud and Brainerd.
